Discoid Meniscus of the Knee-Report of 3 Cases

Abstract

|
Three cases of the discoid lateral meniscus are reported with a review of the literatures. The first case was 26 year old female, a housewife with unilateral lateral discoid meniscus of the left knee. The second case was 20 year o]´d male, a college student, with bilateral lateral discoid meniscus. Clinical symptoms and signs of the both patients were completely disappeared by surgical removal of the menisci, showing satisfactory results.
It is well known that discoid meniscus is formed usually in the lateral, and bilateral meniscus does occur though it is rare. Discoid meniscus maybe formed by congenital and developmental defect.
